Representatives of many Allied nations attended, including <a href=\"https:\/\/secondbysecondworldwar.com\/?p=6114\">General Philippe Leclerc<\/a> of France and <a href=\"https:\/\/secondbysecondworldwar.com\/?p=4963\">General Arthur Percival<\/a> of Britain, the latter having only recently been released from a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp.<\/p>\n<p>Also anchored in Tokyo Bay was the British destroyer, <em>HMS Whelp<\/em>.
