Hitler wanted to ensure that his Hungarian allies did not break away from the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/secondbysecondworldwar.com\/?p=2943\">Tripartite Pact<\/a>,\u2019 which was part of the Germany-Italy-Japan Axis alliance. He was largely responsible for sending Hungarian forces to join the Wehrmacht in\u00a0invading Yugoslavia and also Russia, in <em>Operation Barbarossa<\/em>.
